Topo royalties are paid out four times a year, coinciding with the end of each calendar quarter. The payment dates are as follows: April 30th, July 31st, October 31st, and January 31st.

The minimum royalty payment per calendar quarter is 300€. If royalties fall between 100€ and 300€, they'll be paid alongside the last payment of the year.

Payments below 100€ will accumulate over time until they reach one of the thresholds (100€ or 300€), at which point they'll be paid out.

Further details about payment dates

  • Royalties accumulated between January 1st and March 31st will be paid out on April 30th.
  • Royalties accumulated between April 1st and June 30th will be paid out on July 31st.
  • Royalties accumulated between July 1st and September 30th will be paid out on October 31st.
  • Royalties accumulated between October 1st and December 31st will be paid out on January 31st.

If royalties exceed 100€ but remain below 300€ over the year, they'll be paid out on January 31st.

Tips for smoother topo payments

  • To speed up the payments, avoid creating unnecessary teams. Royalties are calculated per team, so consolidating teams can help reach the payment threshold faster.

Example: If you have two teams, each making 50€ per month, after 3 months, you'll have 150€ royalties in both teams. However, since it hasn't reached 300€, the income won't be paid in the next payment round. If you had only one team, it would accumulate 300€ in 3 months, enabling payment in the next round.

  • For authors managing multiple teams alone, consider setting payment settings to "members" instead of "team" to receive all payment receipts in one document on your personal profile.

Why payments are not made monthly

Due to accounting and taxation bureaucracy, making topo payments creates significant costs. Monthly payments, especially for small amounts, would result in a substantial portion of the funds going toward payment costs.
